Sad to see it go, but it was its time
ReplyDeleteI've never been there before in my life, but those pictures still look weird.
ReplyDeletecantnot: I agree. It was bound to happen, but it's odd to see all the same.
ReplyDeleteBelk Eastland got a little sloppy as time went on, but it never truly fell apart like Belk Carolina Circle or Belk Regency Mall did. Belk Eastland looks like such a typical Belk store that is just feels weird that there's no merchnadise.
The other odd thing is that the chandeliers had all their bulbs lit right before the store closed, when it always missed a few while it was open.
Billy: I think you would have loved this store. It had all the retro feeling of a typical '70s Belk store with a healthy dose of the '80s thrown in for good measure.
Funny you should mention the chandeliers, Steven...I was just going to post a comment myself in amazement at how all the bulbs were there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sad sight! I visited Eastland Mall once...after dark...and...gasp!...I'm still alive! Everyone gives me the strangest looks when I tell them that -- I think that fact is sadder than the pictures.
(I must admit, though, that the Belk store there did have a strange smell to it...)
Matt
The mall itself is not as bad as people say...but the area is increasingly sketchy for people who don't live in the vicinity. I go in the daytime just in case :-)
ReplyDeleteNever noticed a funky odor, but with the lower level being partially underground, I guess it had that "basement" smell.
