  1. The signage on the Belk-Harry store looks somewhat suburban, like something you would see on one of their mall-anchoring stores. Usually downtown stores have signage is in the form of stonework or a decorative plaque or even a series of banners.

  2. You're thinking of the restored downtown department stores of the late '80s and beyond. In the '50s, '60s, '70s and '80s, downtown department stores has unified facades and huge signs like their suburban counterparts.
