  1. Whoa...this mall just screams early 90s! It looks like they were trying so hard to get out of the 80s and ended up with this, which I think today looks a little over-the-top. When did this open, Steven? 1996 is floating around in my mind for some reason, but I want to say it may have been even later.

Reminds me of 2 Wachovia downtown. I can't stand that building. Yech.

  2. From what I can tell, this strore opened in 1991, replacing the old store at the (currently being demolished) Rock Hill Mall.

I'm not as displeased with this place as you are, Matt, but the exterior is a little much. It's like a mini-Carolina Place, but not as well-done. I do like the mall enbtrance a lot though.

  3. I find the mall entrance to be lovely, although the gold columns are a bit excessive. Perhaps some display windows facing the mall and the entryway and small seating areas(ala Nordstrom) would have sufficed.

  4. Most 15-year old mall entrances should hope to hold up this well. I think the gold columns add the right amount of contrast. I also think they did the best they could with the smallish mall corridor this store faces. Trying to cram display windows in would have minimized the store's impact, which is the wrong thing to do, seeing as it's the biggest store in the mall other than Wal-Mart.
